Class Description
Be a part of the journey as an exciting new adventure takes off for Mulranny Arts. This year we have opened a state-of-the-art metal studio and we invite you to join us as we develop our metalsmith classes in our new facility.
This two-day workshop will be split in two parts.
Day 1 will focus on working with silver clay, a lovely, hands-on class, perfect for beginners and intermediary. You will spend the day learning how to cut, texture, stamp, roll and fire your metal clay into a pendant of your own design.
Day 2 will be an opportunity to work with other tools and metals and design even more unique pieces.
Everyone is welcome whether it’s your very first time at the silversmith bench or you are building on your previous experiences. If you are creative, love making jewellery and have always wanted to design something using silver, brass or copper then this course could be the perfect gift to yourself or a loved one.
Led by Rachel Mathews-McKay, a Dublin based Craftivist and Metalsmith artist, she will be covering the foundations of cutting (piercing), shaping, soldering and adding texture to silver and alloy metals. Turn a flat piece of metal into a wearable work of art.
Who is this class for?
Perfect for beginners, with space for more confident ‘smiths to stretch into advanced techniques.
Ideal for curious beginners, creative risk-takers, and anyone who wants to make meaningful jewellery with their own hands.
If you require accommodation, please contact us.
