Based in Westport, Co. Mayo, Ireland, Breda Burns is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice centres on sound works and audio interviews with artists and creatives. These recordings form the foundation of her work, with layered audio and visual elements combined to create immersive, cohesive installations.

Her solo exhibitions have been presented at venues including The Custom House Studios & Gallery, The Luan Gallery, The Model Arts Centre, Hamilton Gallery, Áras Inis Gluaire, The Green Fuse, Claremorris Gallery and The Linenhall. She has also exhibited extensively both nationally and internationally, with exhibitions at the RHA Open, Cairde Visual, King House Boyle, Áras Éanna Arts Centre, Ballina Arts Centre, Leitrim Sculpture Centre, as well as galleries and museums in Berlin and Neustadt an der Weinstraße (Germany), the Nanchizi Art Museum in Beijing (China), Pulchri Studio Gallery in The Hague, Europe House in London, and Philadelphia, USA.

She has been awarded artist residencies at prestigious centres including Krems, Austria, the National Museum of Country Life, Cill Rialaig, the Heinrich Böll Cottage and the Tyrone Guthrie Centre, among others. She also participated in the inaugural exchange between Detroit Stockholm and Interface Inagh Valley, which culminated in exhibitions in Sweden and at the Galway International Arts Festival.

A Fellow of The Ballinglen Foundation, she also serves as Vice-Chairperson of The Custom House Studios, Westport, and is a Creative Associate with The Arts Council. Her work has been recognised through an Arts Council Visual Arts Bursary and Agility Award, with additional support from Mayo County Council, Creative Ireland and Culture Ireland.
