Residency Synopsis

During my residency, I will be focused on learning, connecting, and playing as a means or research for my current body of work which addresses my personal journey of rediscovering myself, my lineage, and my purpose in this life. While connection to nature can be done anywhere on Earth, it is my family lineage that makes Ireland so important to this sojourn, as I desire to feel a deeper connection to ancestral knowledge and spiritual practices. During the residency, I will travel to different areas of the country for research and connection in order to better understand my spiritual ties to this place. My experiences will be heavily documented through creative journaling/making, which will serve as the catalyst for my studio practice while on campus. This research will be transformed into a visual collection of memories that will come together as a final work to be showcased at the completion of residency. Although stained glass construction will be incorporated, a variety of media will certainly be introduced, as it will be a collection of creative practices made in real time and “en plein air”.”
