Class Description

Explore the art of felting, polymer clay sculpture, armature building and costuming in this engaging 2-day class. Dive into the world of Granuaile, the Pirate Queen of Clew Bay, as we transform her story into an exquisite ART DOLL assemblage.

Granuaile, a remarkable and powerful woman, despite her occupation and lifestyle lived well into her 70s. Throughout the class, we will delve into her fascinating life and era, drawing inspiration for our creative journey.

Participants will craft a soft sculpture embodying Granuaile's character, complete with your uniquely designed costume. The class covers the research, development and execution of her character, exploring techniques for crafting, finishing, aging, and accessorizing the art doll.

No prior experience is required, making this class accessible to all. Learn the intricacies of building a wire armature to give structure to your sculpture, followed by the art of needle felting for the body. The facial features come to life with polymer clay, as you receive step-by-step guidance on creating expressions through the nose, eyes, lips and hair application.

Once you've chosen the attire for your sculpture, attach clothing pieces and adorn them according to your creative vision. Your creative imaginings can run as wild as Granuaile herself.

All necessary materials are provided in your kits, with a variety of colors and designs to choose from.

Join us in this fun and enriching class, where the world of art and history collide.
