Discover the exciting possibilities of combining metal, colour and texture in this creative, hands-on workshop with artist and jewellery maker Anita Mills.
Over three inspiring days at Mulranny Arts, you'll explore the fascinating techniques of torch-fired enamelling and patination, learning how to transform simple copper shapes into colourful, textured elements for your own jewellery designs.
From rich layers of enamel to beautifully aged and textured metal surfaces, this workshop is all about experimentation, discovery and developing your own creative style.
What You'll Learn
Under Anita's expert guidance, you'll explore a variety of techniques, including:
Designing and shaping copper – creating individual components that can be incorporated into pendants, earrings, brooches, necklaces and cuffs.
Torch-fired enamelling – learning how to apply and fuse layers of colourful enamel onto metal.
Creating texture and depth – experimenting with dry-sifting enamel, liquid enamel and specialty textures.
Sgraffito techniques – scratching through layers of enamel to reveal contrasting colours beneath.
Flame painting – using heat to develop beautiful colour effects on metal.
Patinas and surface treatments – exploring how natural and artificial ageing processes can create distinctive finishes.
Finishing and polishing – bringing your experimental pieces to a beautiful finish.
You'll have plenty of opportunities to experiment with different colours, textures and techniques, creating a collection of unique metal elements that can be incorporated into your future jewellery projects.
